As an artist, my art is most basically the way I express what is on my heart. What moves me defies words, so I paint it. I hope that my art is able to capture a glimmer of the truth or beauty or goodness that pierced my heart.
What pierces my heart most deeply, most profoundly, and in a way that could never be forced into words is the love of Jesus. Even having to mention that in this little writeup feels woefully inadequate! This is what I most want to paint, most hope to convey, in my art. Not a theoretical or even a theological idea of love, but the love he has given to me personally, the love which is defined in the Gospel. The more I get to know him in my own life, the more astoundingly true I find the Gospel. I hope that my art can be a doorway for viewers into that love, a meeting place for people to deepen their own relationships with Jesus.
Some of my art is directly about him; some is not. It’s all part of the adventure.
