This was my contribution to my family’s Christmas card in 2015. (A few other pictures on this page are from past years.) This year I wanted to capture a “foster” father-son moment between Joseph and Jesus. I was inspired to do this because of how loved and protected I’ve always felt by my own dad, so I actually modeled this painting after a photo of me and my dad when I was a baby. I sort of have this headcannon of Joseph more than just adopting Jesus as his own son, but of having a deeply special bond with Him. I love to think of the father he chose to be to Jesus despite all the fears he must have had.
