Many of Leonardo Da Vinci’s surviving works are sketches such as this. It’s fascinating to get a glimpse into the thought process behind his masterpieces. He took such care that he actually took notes, and he used grids to make certain that his artwork was exactly accurate. And yet, despite such structure, he maintained a tangible spirit about his work. There is no wonder that he earned a place with the artists we call masters.
